This study examines the perceptions of Parung Village residents regarding
the importance of education up to the tertiary level. Employing a mixed
method approach, this research involved 200 respondents through a
quantitative survey and 20 key informants for in-depth interviews. The
findings reveal that the majority of Parung Village residents hold positive
perceptions towards higher education; however, there are several significant
barriers such as economic limitations and lack of access to information.
Factors influencing these perceptions include family educational
background, socio-economic status, and exposure to information. The
implications of this research provide valuable insights for the development
of educational policies in rural areas of Indonesia.
